it appears they got Liberty Corporation listed in google finance. Maybe an old company that used the LC ticker previously?
-
Yea, that surprised me too.
Google and Yahoo both routinely have this problem when an IPO occurs. They buy a database from some other company, and it isn't immediately updated.

Google might be mistaken here.
NYSE listing specifies LendingClub for LC: https://www.nyse.com/quote/XNYS:LC
Also, if you search for "LC" here: https://www.nyse.com/listings_directory/stock

Google finance correctly listed Lending Club when you searched for NYSE:LC right after the IPO happened. Seems like the price data is correct but the name is wrong now.

Looks like Google fixed it.

Who comes up with the list of Related Companies at the bottom? I've never heard of any of them.
And what does NEC stand for?
"Sector: Financials > Industry: Consumer Lending - NEC"

I think there's a footnote somewhere saying who they buy various data from.

Government-speak meaning "other".
You see this on the federal reserve statistics web site, where the fed explains that this means "Not Elsewhere Classified". I think it means doesn't fit into one of their standard categories like mortgages, car loans, credit card loans etc. LC makes ordinary consumer loans, so I don't think they fit the fed use of NEC, but if somebody is categorizing companies I could imagine they might put LC there. Just imagine, there's some guy whose job it is to figure out what damn category new companies go in.

"Not Elsewhere Classified"
There's a more complete list at https://www.google.com/finance?catid=us-TRBC%3A5510103010&sort=MARKET_CAP&ei=yqaQVLGHItSt8gb75YGYBA
American Express, Discover, and Ally are also on the list. Who knew!

I'm quite lost. Why is any of this remotely interesting??
