Investors - P / Prosper Returns Dropping?
« on: December 27, 2013, 05:50:22 PM »
Does anyone know if the seasoned aggregate return has been going down at Prosper? I remember it used to be 9.29%, then 9.09%. Now when I log out I see returns are 8.89%.

Investors - P / lots of bailing
« on: September 18, 2013, 02:09:59 PM »
The difficulty in finding prosper loans is well established. I have 20K unallocated in my IRA account and decided to significantly broaden my criteria to get money working. Obviously 20K earning 8% is better than 1K earning 15%. I can improve my portfolio criteria on reinvestment later, esp if I'm only getting 1-2 loans per day in my autoinvest (more like a WEEK).  Anyway, I put in a quickinvest order for 12 loans on 9/13. ONE was invested, two are pending and 9 expired. Even the dregs are dreggy. It doesn't help that there are zero loans available at all in the highest four risk categories right now.

This has been well discussed and I know that I have to turn my life upside down to invest in this asset class so I'm just venting.

Investors - P / APS and Prosper Fighting
« on: August 21, 2013, 04:54:02 PM »
American Pension Services early this month sent my account a letter saying they were were fighting with Prosper and were going to charge me fees to hold my IRA with them. This is something that Prosper indicated would not happen (the fees). I'm not particularly concerned but thought I'd mention it to see if anyone else got that letter (presumably everyone with a Prosper IRA did) and to let you know I spoke to Prosper a little while ago and they are working something out. In short their direction was to ignore the letter and they'd be in touch.

I liked APS because they didn't lose my paperwork and successfully opened my account. I don't like them now because they communicated with me. An intermediary service like this should be invisible to investors (until something goes wrong with Prosper). Their fight with Prosper doesn't really interest me, but I'm concerned I will be asked to pay 1% to change custodians.

General P2P Lending Discussion / Same Borrowers on LC/Prosper?
« on: April 12, 2013, 02:56:27 PM »
Juicy title I know but maybe clearer heads than mine can help think on ways to determine to what extent borrowers crossover/duplicate loans on LC and Prosper. I've got a black heart so I would definitely apply to both sites simultaneously (obviously to have twice as nice of a vacation). I know the loan will show up on your credit report so it will be more difficult to get consecutive loans from  these sites, but what about simultaneous? Nothing is reported until funding and once funding happens, isn't it to late for LC or Prosper to pull back a loan?

Can anyone tell me why origination spike at the beginning of the month for LC? Seems that the 5th is a hot spot.

what is the real affect of a defaulted payment on a person's credit score?

I'm not clear what a platform can really do to a score - in theory it would be like defaulting on a credit card, but what does it mean to default on a credit on a credit card? The card company must sue and recover for it to be a record, right? otherwise it's just a delinquency which is a small hit

I couldn't find anything in the LC FAQ on this. It may be covered on this board but I haven't found it.
