Investors - LC / Lending Club to Offer Super Prime Loans!
« on: November 19, 2014, 12:26:18 PM »
Interesting new offering from LC:

2 year for 10k or less starting at 3.99%
3-7 year for 10-50k starting at 4.99% and 5.37%

I have a tax question and this is an area I'm trying to educate myself on so I appreciate any thoughts.

I have one stock holding that I bought in Feb 2013. It's only worth about $1,500, but I'm up about 70% on the investment overall.    Since it's such a small amount I'm considering selling and rolling it into other investments.  By the looks of it, I'll have about $290 of capital losses this year with LC.  Will this help offset some of the gains? What happens to my capital losses if I have no capital gains against it for the current year?  Do losses simply 'roll over' to the next year?

I hope this will help me better understand the tax implications of LC/Prosper as well. Thanks!

General Prosper Discussion / Exciting news for Prosper tomorrow?

Just hopped on twitter and saw tweets from Ron Suber/Prosper that Prosper is going to release 'exciting news' tomorrow.  Any guesses? Filing to go public?

Investors - LC / Lending Club IPO for retail investors
« on: October 21, 2014, 11:41:33 AM »
Now that we are certain shares will be available to retail investors (who have invested in notes in LC as of Sept 30, 2014), I'm wondering how many people plan on investing at the IPO price and how much.  Will you wait to get your shares after they are public?  I think it's a unique opportunity especially given the restriction.  My plan is to invest, I'm just not sure how much yet - perhaps the amount of interest I've received from Lending Club.

Investors - LC / No best loans on LC platform - are you serious?
« on: May 12, 2014, 01:26:10 PM »
I found this Forbes article pretty fascinating and would love to hear some thoughts from others.  It basically talks about how all loans are created equal and that there is no evidence that any investor can consistently generate better than average returns. Obviously, this doesn't include the folio folk.  :)
