Off Topic / Recommend Tax Software-P2P lending friendly
« on: January 07, 2016, 09:41:39 AM »
With tax season around the corner, does anyone have a recommendation on which tax software they like best and if it's somewhat friendly to P2P entries?  I've used H&R Block at home, which is now Tax cut for years, not that I have an affinity for it, but it's typically cheaper than Turbo Tax, and aside from my p2P investments, my taxes are fairly simple, nothing too crazy.  Like others I've had challenges entering the P2P Lending Writes offs,  Tax cut does not like the Various entry for the sale date, drawing a blank on the IRS form #.

I've read up on turbo tax and seems they had a mishap last year forcing customers to purchase their premium version to do schedule D's when historically it was part of their Deluxe edition.  Seems this has been resolved for the 2015 software.   I have no experience with Tax Act, tax slayer or any of the other cloud services.

Most of the software is going to be on sale this month, I'd like to pickup my copy sooner than later.

thanks.

Introductions / Hello, boys! (and girls) I'm BAAAAAACK!

Hi Long time investor in Lendingclub, unfortunately, I never put enough in to get things moving.  I made my first investment in early 2008, considering Lending club was very new back then, I was going to start slowly, but a few months later, they stop all new investments for several months while they filed various paperwork with the SEC and later came out with the tradable notes. I lost interests and become very conservative in my investments and kept all my cash under my mattress,  Cash is king as they say, until the credit crisis was over.

Fast forward 7 years, I'm back.  After seeing my 401k, and other equity investments drop 10%-12% in a matter of days, I realized that I needed something to hedge/balance out the volatility of the markets, additionally the cash under my mattress was losing value by the day.

I'm actually shocked at the groups, tools, and discussion that now exists around P2P Lending both domestically and around the world.    It's reassuring this investment opportunity is here to stay.

Looking forward chatting with you all.
