P2P-Picks / P2P picks with recent Major Derogatory or Delinquent Amount
« on: August 15, 2014, 05:21:30 PM »
I am a bit surprised that the Profit Maximizer (top 5%; D-F) picks some loans with recent (e.g. <= 24 months) "Months Since Last Major Derogatory" or loans with several thousand $ (e.g. $6K) in current "Delinquent Amount".

I would expect that those borrowers would not be as reliable as others?
Is it possible to automatically filter out those loans somehow?
I haven't tried BlueVestment yet, but can a filter be applied to P2P picks?

It was LC themselves who provided written instructions of how to download to Excel.

When?  Where?
I asked.

Is anyone using IR's filters and selecting loans this way?
That doesn't work for me since 2 PM yesterday (5/8/14), because new loans are not being added to the website anymore.
This morning it showed:
"Data last updated 16 hours ago."
Fixed now. Thanks for quick fix!

Confirmed that it is currently just a pdf file with xls extension. However, this worked some time ago when I had tried it. It may help to call in to LC and complain. The squeaky wheel etc......
Except it appears to be a hidden "feature" that was discovered.  You can not get to that XLS button through LCs normal interface.  Hence, they will tell you that you can't use features they don't provide (or are in alpha behind the scenes).
It was LC themselves who provided written instructions of how to download to Excel. The feature has been there for a long time. However, they have now acknowledged that something appears broken. They are "looking into it".

It is possible to download your Lending Club statements to Excel format by following the steps below:

•   Log in to your Lending Club account
•   Click on "Statements"
•   Once you're on the "Statements" page, please paste the following link into your web browser's address bar: https://www.lendingclub.com/account/lenderDocuments.action?display=42

Once you have completed the steps above and you select a statement, there will be an "Excel Version" link to download your statement in Excel format.

Basically, you just need a separate email account.  It would be better if you have different checking and credit card associated with it, but it is not required.
I got an E-mail warning right after opening my account that it is a $1,000 limit per person (i.e. per social security number).  Not sure what generated this Email directed personally to me as I only have one account (I would love to have many accounts otherwise to increase the limit)

Peer Lending Server / Re: Downloading and Filtering (New) Notes
« on: March 01, 2014, 07:31:26 PM »
Sorry for the delayed response:

1)  There is a limitation in the gui system in PLS.  Unfortunately, PLS requires you to close the previous window. I would have liked to been able to leave multiple windows open but unfortunately it wasn't possible

2)  The browse notes window is a separate process than start service.  The service is meant to be run automatically without browsing notes as in an automated fashion.  The start service icon is there to allow a user to manually run a service (non automated).  Having a browse window open on service start would lead to many windows open when automated.

2b) The browse notes window is updated only when you click browse notes (not start service).  The browse notes window simply lets you see what notes are currently available.  It does apply your filters which show in separate tabs.  However, not automatic order is placed

3) PLS is not designed to automate browsing notes.  Rather, it automates the ordering of notes.  The  browse notes is there for simple testing purposes.  Although, this would be a good idea for future versions (note on this below).

PLS is no longer being developed.  The current version will be the last version.  I am working on a new web / client platform that should address these issues.  Unfortunately, PLS is not designed for most retail investors.  It is difficult to manage a complete OS as well.  I have decided to shift gears and go with a client server model.  I should have more information for everyone within a month or so.

Best,
John
Thank you for the (delayed) response. I guess that there is no point submitting my list of bugs and suggestions since this is the last version.

I wanted to "evaluate" your loan selection, using AI, by comparing your selected notes with other services, e.g. Interest Radar and P2P picks. I hope that the new Web/Client platform will also have a way of back-testing the loan selection results and review the current loan selection w or w/o Auto-Invest.

Peer Lending Server / Downloading and Filtering (New) Notes
« on: February 17, 2014, 09:18:59 PM »
I have a lot of questions, comments and suggestions about PLS, but thought that I would start with the most 'trivial' issue first and I have some questions about 3 related buttons:

1.  "Browse Notes".
A. "Lending Club Notes" Window Closed:  The log shows that the notes are downloaded and the "Lending Club Notes" window opens up showing the Notes (as expected).

B. “Lending Club Notes" window Open: In this case, I get an error message "Please Close the Open Filter Window". I do not have any open filter windows!? I assume the message should say "Please Close the Lending Club Notes Window"? Why can't I update the notes with this window open? I now have to close it each time before updating.

2. "Start Service"
A. "Lending Club Notes" Window Closed: Looking at the Log, it also appears to download the Notes, but the  "Lending Club Notes" window doesn't open up. Note that the log shows two additional steps when using the "Start Service" button vs "Browse Notes": i) "Filtered xx of yy available loans"  and ii) Submit Order (or "submit order is disabled per configuration" as in my case). I assume that the filter step is accidentally left out of the "Browse Notes" log??

B. "Lending Club Notes" Window Open: In this case, the Notes are not updated in the "Lending Club Notes" window.  Furthermore the last two entries  i) "Filtered xx of yy available loans" and  ii) Submit Order (or "submit order is disabled per configuration" as in my case) are missing from the log.  Doesn’t the service work if this window is open?

Also, what is the point of running the Service if "submit order is disabled”? It doesn’t seem to do anything useful?

3. "Set Scheduled Service".  Instead of having to manually click on the "Browse Notes" button, I would like to use the "Scheduled Service" to automatically download the new notes when they become available. However, this is currently not possible w/o automatic investing; I get an error "Submit order must be set to yes..."  Note that if I close this window with the' X' rather than 'OK', the scheduler opens anyway!?

In summary, I would like to have the following functionality:

1.   Pressing the “Browse Notes” button should only open the “LC Notes” window and show the Notes from the last download (or update from a Service run).  An “Update” button on this window would download the current notes.  I should also be able to use the Scheduler to automatically refresh this window (in particular to use the feature to only download immediately following an increase in available note count)
2.   If “submit order is disabled” the “start Service” button should be grayed out (because it wouldn’t do anything useful – unless I am missing something?).

Interest Radar / Re: Anybody use IR to auto invest and not just for Folio?
« on: February 11, 2014, 02:13:53 PM »
I used to use IR for manual investing at 10 AM, 2 PM & 6 PM based on IR scores. However, for the last two weeks or so, IR seems to have problems posting new loans in a timely manner (often delayed 10 min or more). Thus, I have not been able to get the scores and  have not been able to invest in any loans using IR (see also this thread: http://www.lendacademy.com/forum/index.php?topic=2023.0). I will need to start looking at other solutions  :(

The first takes the historic data and whatever other stuff you want to include and produces a set of "weightings" for the loan parameters available when it is released.
This takes a lot of time, human and computer.

However, once you have the "weightings" it takes almost no time at all to apply them to a new loan's parameters and compute a score.
Weightings change infrequently.

I agree. Fred's 1.5sec seems long to just applying weighing to the current loans to calculate a score. However, maybe that it includes other operations as well (probably not downloading the browsenotes file - that would take longer).

BTW, this is a very interesting subject deserving its own thread.   Sorry that I took off on a tangent. I will ask Zach to move this part to a separate thread.

I calculated my own risk scores which are certainly different than IR scores.  For the 6 PM feeding time today, the calculation engine finished processing the 300+ new loans in less than 1.5 seconds.  And I am still using an older "Core 2 Duo" Intel processor.
How did you do this? I was thinking about attempting a Multivariable Linear (or pseudo nonlinear if needed) Regression fit of the historical data.

Yeah I see; by the time IR looks they're gone from the browsenotes file; even though you may have them in your cart. Oh well ...
Exactly, and it seems just to get worse. At 6 PM today the posting was at 6:21 PM  >:(.
Only 5 of 21 loans were posted on IR. I do not understand why there is such a long delay lately (and Rev is not responding)?

I am also surprised that not more IR users see this a big problem? It has become very difficult to use IR to buy notes lately (except for old, stale notes.....).

p.s. I wonder how difficult it is to calculate a score.....? Has anyone tried (in addition to Rev & Bryce)?
