I've done lots of Schedule K-1's from both sides because I've done the 1041's. Using Turbo Tax, just follow their instructions to incorporate it (income section). Don't think about it too much but do figure a place to include the loss (without changing the numbers from the Schedule K-1 when you type it into TT). There's always a few small caveats doing returns, just get the data in for starters. I have my account in an IRA so I don't have to deal with the tax consequences on the Direct Lending.

The thing is, you have governments directly and indirectly (thru the Fed, the BOJ, whatever) buying into the stock market. Front running and fixing commodities. They've got everything electronically traded on news bytes, with the big shots on the inside and outside doing full on manipulation. They can do whatever they want. If running up the price on oil gives the stocks a pop, that's what they do, and then they try to stretch it out for as many days as possible to keep the game going. Like Greece, it's all a game, you know they're going to cave, they know they're going to cave, but it keeps the stock market bouncing along and that's all that really matters in this game. How long can we drag out the inevitable....so, yeah, I am so skeptical.

I don't know what to think. I kind of have a couple ETF's I was watching because of what someone said on-line (yeah, I know). Double your money in six months. 
I'm kind of interested in the whole thing but you know those ETF's don't pay any dividends. Then stretching the chart out to the last crash, no growth either. But it's an interesting subject, I'm glad you brought it up because I'm looking for other investment ideas here.

The way I look at it, losses come off the top as an operating expense. Until you exceed that I don't think you are going to need to worry about a Capital Loss Carryover.

Agree with you MG. It's the future. I personally think the banks are too top heavy now anyway. It seems they are already going after LC while ignoring the elephant in the room.

Does anyone know, I thought they were small, short-term loans and then I read about the $250M over three year investment in Biz2Credit.

I saw something else somewhere too. Sure, it makes sense being a related business, partnering and all, but I thought they loaned up to something like $1M. I didn't realize they were that big of a fund.
But that's a lot of venture capital, basically, right? Now it's seeming more risky. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I too transferred some money into an existing account and didn't see the reward anywhere. The thing is, the verbiage stated you could add to an account or add to a new account, etc., so it wasn't clear except at one point at which I could no longer find after the fact. It would have been nice had it showed up in my account activity. Maybe I need to send a little reminder.

I'm happy about the conversation too. Who wouldn't want to make a small gamble? It's too bad so much risk is embedded everywhere. I don't know what to do. I was trying to figure out the context of fearful vs. greedy for me. I can't help but look at a lot of complacency as greed so when the complacent get fearful, I guess I know what to do...

BTW, maybe I'm crazy but it seems the P2P is less risky than stocks, because we know how much these assets have been hyper inflated, the truth in reporting is questionable, anytime you might get 1:10 split, I mean so many things can punch that asset down for almost no reason at all. It's all fake anyway, right? Or at least 50% of it. I mean who'd take a gamble on that right now without some careful thought.

It seems my biggest mistakes early on were taking people with inquiries. Go for zero because most likely, they're looking for some sucker to clean out before they disappear or file for bankruptcy.
