Just did a quick custom filter on IR...the results are counter intuitive.

Well wouldn't we want that disclosed...that the loan failed to sell as a whole loan?

Anyone have a suggestion of someone who would manage a 5 figure amount at LC for 1% or less a year?

Have you looked into Interest Radar?  At least that would get you notes on a regular basis.  But 1% of $15k annually is $12.50/mo and I think IR is a tiny bit higher than that.  I'm not sure you're going to find human management for that price, but it's an interesting idea for a business concept.  I'd do it, but look at the numbers... someone would have to have like 4mil under management just to make a near-poverty living at 1%.

IR is cheaper. A 15k subscriber would pay $60 for the year, which comes out to 40 basis points a year.

AmCap. . . I somehow think you are the only one who likes OID :)

I love other things too!  But yes I am OID's one true love.  Hmm...does that make me a philanderer?

Interest Radar / Re: Investing in multiples of the same note

I admit I haven't run any statistics, but for notes that had at least one grace period payment or worse, it certainly seems like the higher the dollar amount of the note the harder it is to sell.  However for perfect payment history notes, the $100 and even $300-500 notes sell quite well.  Better than the $25's.  If I find myself with a $500 note I know I can almost always sell it for 1-2% markup quite quickly as long as nothing's wrong with it.

Interesting point - we'd do well to remember that there are plenty of fund people out there who probably aren't interested in anything less than $100 notes or so, and they are hungry for performing notes in the secondary market as well.

Congrats to Peter and Bryce on the mentions!

Boneheaded quote of the day comes from the Indiana securities commissioner: ""But there are limitations on the financial data that is available, and a chance of default, so we need to protect investors."

Limitations on the financial data available...right.

Where exactly do they think IR01 and IR04 come from?

I have been selling increasingly large numbers of notes at 4%...considering increasing my markup as well.

Oy.  Folks just stick to folio until the IPO.

Rawraw - wouldn't an organization for retail investors be three steps short of a fund?

Anecdotally it appears the 4-day sale strategy has long been unreliable as processing times have become more irregular.

Furtherfurtherfurthermore, were Lending Club funneling riskier notes to the retail market that would near certainly need to be in the prospectus.  Usually its the other way around, issuers funnel their safer securities into the public market and leave the risky stuff for private deals.

Hey are any of you folks going to be in NY for the conference (or in NY generally)?  I can't make the conference but I am going to try to make the meetup scheduled for tomorrow at Goodwin Proctor.  It'd be nice to match a a screenname. :-)
