Yard Signs
« on: August 16, 2014, 06:23:04 PM »
Less than 460 notes before 14:00 feeding time. Never seen it that low. We are all going to have to put Lending Club signs in out front yards to attract some borrowers.

I take that back. Put the yard signs in front of your rental properties. And stop talking to your friends about this please.

Too late.  :)   There's a huge news wave happening.  Multiple articles per day mentioning LC in mainstream press.

There was a period last year when less than 100 notes was the norm, and at one time it hit zero overnight due to a botched upload.  But since then LC (thankfully) seemed to have put some restrictions on how much the institutions can purchase.

Loan growth is still fast. All they need to do is temporarily meter acceptance of new investors or new investments.

There's an interview around here somewhere, where they explain that they do adjust their borrower lead generation to match available money.  I find it pretty amazing that they've learned how to do that.

I think its important to understand just how well they do this now.  People sometimes complain when the inventory dips for a few days, but actually it is remarkably steady, given the following.

Looking at the just-released LC quarterly data, we see that they issued about 54,000 loans in the quarter ended 6/30/2014.  54,000 loans in 90 days is 600 per day

Of course the number of loans that list is larger than the number that issue.  I don't have the number for LC handy, but I did find a number for prosper.  There 60% of the loans that list go on to issue.  Presuming that LC is similar, then they must list about 1000 loans per day.

Day in and day out, about 1000 loans per day must list, in order for LC to achieve the 54,000 loans issued per quarter number.

Now of course this number is divided between the whole-loan and fractional-loan markets.  LC is keeping the whole-loan market at around 25% of total volume (see recent orchardplatform blog about this), so 75% of 1000 loans/day, or 750 loans/day must be arriving at the fractional-loan web site.

Because we see about 750 loans sitting in inventory (I've seen 500 to 1300 recently), we know that is about 1 day's production!  They manage this thing with an average of about 1 day's production sitting in inventory (waiting to be funded).  Wow.

Loans are flying thru really fast.  If you don't like the 500 or 700 loans you see before you, you know that about 750 different loans or so will fly thru during the next day.

Of course this doesn't mean you can log in a day later and expect to see all new loans.  Some loans stick around for 2 weeks, while others are gone in seconds, and a lot in the middle.

In August 2013, there was a time when LC had no loan on the platform:

It was an exciting time for everyone in this Forum -- some of you might still remember this.

Exactly man, the thread is back from 2014, 6 years, it has been posted 6 years ago, and the last reply was also back from 6 years ago. What the actual hell are you doing in here man? I mean seriously, i don't even understand what these guys have been talking about, back in 2014, i don't really think that you do. In case you need some advice about your yard start a new thread, look up for some other forums, but don't revive threads that are so old. You want to find the best fertilizers, compost for your garden, search for them in google, why the hell would you post on a 6 years old thread.

bioclotidtai is just trying to be funny.

It does seem a little funny now after news of the LC shutdown.
